Marc Hype Germany’s pioneering Hip Hop & Funk DJ and cultural ambassador of the worldwide 45s scene. With a career spanning more than 30 years, Berlin’s very own Marc Hype has established himself as a sureshot party rocker and a true representative of the eclectic spectrum of Hip Hop & Funk. Inspired by the late Jam Master Jay, he started DJing back in 1988 and went on to shape the scene through countless releases, tours, and competition titles – including two victories at the German ITF Championships in 1998 and 1999. Throughout his journey, he has collaborated with renowned artists such as Masta Ace, Souls Of Mischief, Edo G., Zion I, The Beat Junkies, DJ Z-Trip, Akrobatik & Mr. Lif. His solo debut album "1973 * Recon" was named “Album of the Month” by Europe’s leading Hip Hop magazine JUICE in 2003. In 2004, he teamed up with pianist Jim Dunloop, resulting in a series of highly acclaimed vinyl releases such as The Antique Anthem, Bombay Raw and Finale 74. Their 2006 cover version of Babe Ruth’s The Mexican was hailed by UK tastemaker Jazzman Gerald as the definitive version to own. This collaboration culminated in the 2009 album Stamp Out Reality on Melting Pot Music, featuring legendary guests like Blowfly, Mr. Complex, Malena Perez & Lady Daisey. Beyond his production work, Marc Hype has curated and hosted celebrated event series like Rap History Berlin and the SoulClap! Tours, which gained recognition in Germany and across Asia. Today, he continues to travel the globe with his bag of 45s as the founder of the Berlin/Hamburg/Paris/Skopje/Los Angeles-based Dusty Donuts crew & label – keeping the original values of Hip Hop DJ culture and the art of crate digging alive. His proven ability to move crowds has taken him to stages all over Europe, the USA, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Lebanon, Tunisia, the UAE, Russia, Israel, India, and Australia. Marc Hype about the RP-7: The RP-7 is a serious weapon for every 45s Hip Hop DJ and turntablist. The torque feels super tight, giving you instant control on cuts and backspins. I really appreciate the rock-solid build – this deck is clearly made to handle heavy sessions and long club nights. The pitch control is smooth and precise, perfect for mixing 45s. The platter and tonearm feel incredibly stable, which gives me confidence when going all in on stage. For DJs who live and breathe 45s culture, the RP-7 is definitely the one.
