DJ Swordz

DJ Swordz is a Belgian dj and turntablist with Filipino roots. In 2021 he became world champion at the DMC World DJ Championships in the scratching & portablist categories.

Swordz was inspired since he saw a video of the DMC 98 US final where DJ Craze won the competition. He bought himself 2 turntables & a mixer and started practicing. He is also inspired by the mix The Camel Bobsled Race by DJ Shadow and DJ QBert (1997). He listened to the mix often and tried out the scratches himself.

Around the turn of the century, the deejay group IFC Crew (short for Iron Finga Cutz) was founded, with Swordz, DJ Cross, Mastafingaz and DJ Jack, now known as the Mixfitz (also DMC & ITF world champions)

In 2007 Swordz moved to Prague & was a resident at the Hip Hop Kemp festival for many years. He opened for the likes of Dj Krush, Method Man & Redman, dj'ed for Tash (Alkoholiks), Dj Q-bert, Kid Koala to name just a few. When moving back to Belgium he picked up on hardcore scratching & turntablism again and the rest is history!

Currently he is performing with CTMB (2023 DMC world scratch champion) & Beatsurfing (portable beatmaking app & vst plugins)
